Default getting EGR codes on engine without EGR

I have a 2004 Grand Caravan SXT 3.8l and I am getting EGR codes, yet my vehicle is one that does not have an EGR valve. Car is idling rough. I found that the PCM was replaced in 2010 before I purchased the vehicle. Is it possible that the replacement PCM was programmed for a vehicle WITH an EGR, instead of one without??? I assume the PCM was reprogrammed using the VIN # so I don't know how they could have incorrectly programmed it for an engine with EGR. Would this cause the EGR codes? I am getting codes P0032, P0406 and P0403. Since the car obviously does not have an EGR I don't know what to do next. The company that replaced the PCM wants me to send them the PCM module and pay $100 to reprogram it. I just want to be sure to rule out other causes before spending $100 on something I'm not sure will correct the problem. Any help is much appreciated!

Has the lamp been on the entire time you owned it? If you put in a PCM that needs EGR, it should set the codes right away if you don't have one.

I've only owned the car for a couple of months and I believe the lamp was on when I bought it. It had a bad transmission and so it really hasnt been driven. Just replaced the transmission two weeks ago. So you are saying the PCM should recognize this vehicle is a non-EGR vehicle? Could there be any other reasons why I would get EGR codes on a vehicle without an EGR?

No, I'm saying the PCM is for an EGR vehicle so that explains the light being on the entire time. The PCM will have to be replaced with the correct unit.
