another update. things started to go sour again. the problem now is the wipers not working at all when turned on. For those of you who love a challenge: this happened yesterday. Engine not running and wipers in off position. I opened the front passenger door with the key. When I hit the unlock button on the passenger door, the wipers cycled one and a half times and remained in the locked up position. I have not tackled this on yet except to turn the wipers on and off several times with no success.

Thank you very much for posting specific and descriptive solutions to your problem. Don't know yet if this will solve my problem. but it is so frustrating when threads have no resolution. I'm sure your post will help many people to come.

Finally gave up and wired the front wipers straight off the battery. I used the bron and white wire(low speed) and black wire(gr) from the wipers. I wired a chassis ground in with the wipers ground to get them to work. Finally I ran a wire with 20amp fuse straight off the battery. rear wipers still do not work. the wires had to be run through a hole in the side above the left wheel (where most of the wires run to get them through the firewall). the front washer does work. I have to park the wipers myself.
