2010 dodge grand caravan steering shake help
Hello everyone i am coming to you guys for help. 2010 dodge grand caravan 34,000 km
I am from canada i was driving down to Indiana May 3rd i started to feel a pulsating when i brake and the steering was shaking this only happens at 100- 120km i went to a dealer down there and they said my brakes warranty finish in April 2013.
They check and told me i need to change the front rotors and brake pads they also rotate my tires. On my way back home the same thing was happening steering shake no pulsating.
I went to a dealer here in ontario and they said i need to change the rear rotors and the pads which they said would solved the problem.
The job was done same problem steering shake when braking at 100km lower speeds 60-70 no problem. This started to **** me off as these dealers have me changing parts without solving the problem.
On saturday i took the vehicle to the dealer i bought it from for free oil change told them the problem they balance the wheels which they said was ok and nothing seems loose under the vehicle. Took the vehicle on the highway same problem steering shake i have this van from new so i know how the brake feels and this is not normal slight shake ok but this feels like the wheels rocking away. tires are 80% good.
Sorry for the long story but i need your help please i dont want to keep changing parts and the problem is still there . vehicle was manufactured in november 2010. i was told this.so basically it is 2 yrs old.
Is it possible it need a alignment? or one of the new rotors is warp?

Thanks for your response i am taking it back to the dealer on wednesday due to the holiday here i will keep you inform. If i had a choice againg i will not buy new rotors i would shave it first $50 per rotor vs $19 shaving.
My pads had 85% meat on them when they took them off rotors had no marks.

I am puzzled. You say this is a 2010 model van built in November 2010? How can that be when 2011 model year van should have debuted before the Fall of 2010? Generally speaking, the very last 2010 model vehicles should have been manufactured in June 2010 or something. This question is significant because a brake TSB involves 2011 models. Was the updated 2011 van a late release??
Never get rotors cut. Always replace them because they are simply too cheap and the results are never good.
When a rotor warps, gets microcracks from excessive heat or has hot spots it is total junk. The metallurgy of the rotor is damaged and this can't be fixed by cutting. It might look OK to the naked eye, but the pulsation or vibration problem will remain (it will not perform better).
It's incredibly rare when where a pad wears out and gouges a rotor and it can be cleaned up without cutting below minimum thickness.

It was stated that it was a 2010 model that was built in november 2010 maybe left over parts lol.I question the same thing.
To update my problem the dealers have mechanics who are pure idiots. after all the work that was done on the vehicle by Indiana and toronto dealers.
I got fed up took the vehicle to a private mechanic the problem was fix within one hour.
The dealer in Indiana put on the new front disc and it seem the problem was the disc they were warp the disc was still shining new but when the private mechanc put them on the lathe he showed me how bad they were. He machine it and the vehicle is running fine.
I am sure the disc had warranty but it was change in Indiana and i am in toronto so my lost.
