CEL Code P0172
I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan ES, 3.8L engine.
As my son was going to work, he said all of a sudden he lost power and no matter how far he pushed the accelerator, the van had no power. He also notice at first that the CEL was flashing on and off. He turned around and came back home. He said that while he was going 40 MPH or less, everything seemed to be OK but once he had to go up a hill, the van almost didn't make it. By the time he got home, the CEL had gone out but still had the problem. The van would only idle at 500 RPM and you could smell raw gas real bad. My OBD gave me a code of P0172 which tells me that the gas to air mixture is to high. One of the things to check was the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor that it could be dirty or faulty. I can't find this sensor on my van and the Haynes Repair Manual I have, does not show a MAF for my van. Can I get some help with this problem please. And thanks to all that respond.

You don't have a MAF sensor. You have a MAP sensor. Does the same job. It's installed just to the right of the throttle body on top of the intake manifold.
