Default Potential New Caravan owner

Hello. I'm new to the forums and to Dodge too.

My wife and I are looking at buying a new 2013 Grand Caravan with Crew trim level. I have a question about the DVD system. The vans we are looking at do not currently have DVD installed in them. They have 430 RBZ w/ backup cameras in them. They also have the full overhead console with all the cubby holes/storage spots in them.

I've read online that some people have installed OEM DVD players into these vans. Is it hard to do and how expensive? I've also read that you can potentially have two different DVD's playing at once (while also listening to the radio up front) with dual screens installed. Is that possible if installing on your own?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Welcome! the Grand Caravan are great van for the price. It is the #1 selling Minivan for a reason.

As far as the overhead DVD option, it would be best to go Aftermarket, visit a Radio/Alarm store. it would be cheaper and easier to repair when it breaks.

However, I think you might be most cost effective to just buy a Portable DVD players for the kids... The Caravan do have a 115volt outlet for those things. And you are talking about $50-100 for a portable unit compare to $500-$2,000 for a roof mounted system. (You can buy a iPad or a Laptop with those money)

We've thought about just doing portable units or iPads. I was just curious what the OEM product was like and if there were advantages (i.e. not having to worry about cords, etc.)

Also, a question about radios. The vans I'm looking at have I think the 430 RBZ unit in them. What is the difference between that and a 430 REN or a 730?

Thanks!

I think the 730 RHR has Bluetooth and Navi built in.
And the REN, isn't that a Black base model radio without touch screen?
