Exclamation Please Help: Vehicle won't turn on: Fob Keyless stuck in ignition,

Hello, I would appreciate any help, thank you!

2011 Dodge Caravan FOB key stuck inignition, vehicle locked and won’t turn on.

In the past couple of weeks I hadto press the FOB keyless lock/unlock button more than once sometimes to open orlock the vehicle, figured I replace the battery later.

This morning I remember I forgotthe Fob keyless entry in the ignition and when I turn it to turn on thevehicle:

1. All the dash lights came on and off suddenly

2. Ared round light remained in the middle of the dash (“vehicle security light”?)

3. AsI turned the key nothing happened and engine would not turn on

4. Nowthe red light is gone , vehicle is totally locked: lights won’t work, lock/unlock door buttons etc…

5. WhenI press the FOB keyless buttons (while it is stuck inside the socket) nothinghappens

Here is what I have checked:

1. AfterI checked all the fuses to make sure they are fine – red light disappeared

2. Checkedthe car charger socket , seems to be getting electricity

3. Idisconnected the battery and reconnected after a few minutes, nothing happened

4. Ialso managed to open the FOB key and replace the battery and close it againwhile it is stuck inside the ignition

5. Ialso moved the wheel around a little using the steering

6. Movedthe gear up and down into park and back

Nothing has worked so far

Dealer of course tells me to tow tothe car there so they can find out what is going on. It is past its warranty of 60,000km.

Does anyone know what else to doplease?

I appreciate any help

Thank you.

Can the key be turned to the off position or does it stop short.

Causes could be not being shifted completely to park or out of adjustment cable.
No power to the WIN module (module the key is stuck in).....ie, dead battery, blown fuse to the module or so on.
There are different makers of the WIN module, some have an access hole on the side that a paper clip can be inserted into to unlock it and the key can be removed.

Thank you very much for writing back.

You were right on the dead battery. For some reason it was drained (maybe the lights were on all night) and we just boosted the battery using cable. The key came out and power restored to the van.

Appreciate your help!
