Default 2005 dodge grand caravan intake backfire

Hello I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them. 2005 Dodge grand Caravan 3.3 litre 170,000K or 100,000 miles. Engine Backfire top end blew of hose from PVC valve to Intake(both ends) and hose from intake for power brakes(intake end only)? I put the hoses back on and the engine works fine. No timing chain noise. Drove it for 80km or 50miles yesterday engine worked fine. Is there a timing mark on the harmonic balancer. I hooked up a timing light and could not see a mark? If anyone has any insight I would appreciate their help. Thanks Bill

The only timing marks are under the timing chain cover. As far as I know the only way to check timing is with a scope. What was happening when it backfired? No check engine light I take it?

BTW - I've read backfiring through the intake indicates a lean condition.

My wife was driving she was at a stop sign and when she pressed the pedal she had no response from the engine. She shut it of and restarted the engine and right away the engine backfired and she shut it off. I put the hoses back on and it is now working fine.

Thanks for any input you may have Bill.

the engine light is not on now, could it have a stored code that may be a result of the backfire?

You won't see any "active" codes if the light is off but you may be able to read a "pending" code with a scanner as opposed to a basic code reader.
