Parking brake issue '99 ES
Hi,
I recently was working on an electrical issue on the van and needed to remove the interior trim. Part of that trim included the parking brake release. I never disconnected the cable, just rotated the trim piece with the cable attached.
After reassembly, the brake light came on and I pulled the release. Nothing seemed to happen, but the light went out. The light continued to come on intermittently.
After stopping the car I thought I'd engage the parking brake to make sure the release worked properly. I was not able to engage the parking brake. There is significant pressure on the pedal (as if it's engaged) and I can't easily push it to the point where it ratchets. Prior to the electrical work, it worked fine. I could easily push the pedal and it would ratchet as it engaged and release with the release lever.
Is this possibly a cable issue related to my trim removal/re-assembly?
Is the brake possibly partially engaged and not fully releasing?
Thanks for any insight.
Mike
