Default 2008 Caravan issues, HELP

Posted this on the new member thread but it was suggested I post here as well. Very frustrated with our vehicle. It is a 2008 Dodge Caravan SXT (I think-Somthing like that ). Purchased used with 20,000 -one owner. This was 3 years ago. The first year was good but once it hit 40,000 miles it has been falling apart.
The current issues is there was a strong odor recently which we determined was antifreeze leaking from the Y connector. My husband made a repair and there is no longer any visible leak but the odor is still present though lessened. Smells more when idling.
Also, this may be unrelated but the car puts out a lot of heat when none of the systems are on. If the AC or Heat are running it is fine but is nice weather when you don't need them on it is really hot! Nothing coming out of the vent but it just seems to radiate heat.HELP. Frustrated at we have already put a lot of money in this vehicle.

Is the coolant level going down, requiring refil? IF not, then perhaps during the repair, a bit of it collected in a small pool somewhere on the lower frame. Wouldn't take much to continue giving off an odor. But if the level is going down very slowly, that's a PITA because it's probably a slow leak that's burning off and not showing up as a drip. A pressure test might help in that case.

This is exactly what happened to me right after the dealership replaced my Y connector. There are a few grooves on the top of the transmission where the coolant can pool. After I drove the van back to the dealership they hosed off the area under the Y connector and told me I should expect the steam and odor for a day or so until the pooled water burned off. Didn't have a problem after that.
