Power Adjustable Pedal fix 2011-14 Grand Caravan
Had an issue with our adjustable pedals not working earlier this month. Im 6'4 my wife is 5'0. So we need these damn things! It was stuck in the all the "up" position, for her. So it was killing my legs to hold my feet at such crazy angles to drive it. I checked all the fuses and what not. The thing was, it would still raise the pedals up, I could here the motor engaging when I would push "up" but not down. So I figured it was the switch.
I ordered a new switch and therefore felt safe to dig into it and check what went wrong with the switch. First of all, let me say, that having the ignition in the dash kicks *** if you have to do any work on the electronics in the steering coloumn- No extra security! Just 2 screws and its apart. Loved it.
Second, the switch was very easy to get out. I looked at it and saw it could come apart, so I pulled it apart and there are 2 metal spring type switches and 4 metal contacts that the switches touch. 2 of my contacts where black, so I cleaned them off and put it back together. Works perfectly!!
***Long story short, take the adjustable pedal switch out of the steering column, pull it apart, scrape the contacts clean and re-assemble. If you have the same problem that I did, this will solve your issue.
Note: I knew it was the switch and not the motor since I could still hear it engaging. If your motor isn't engaging, check your fuses first.

Email me for another pic, I only took one more. You can see the 4 metal contacts in the other pic, in the one I posted, you can see the 2 spring switches that sit on top of the contacts.
Had a similar problem with our 2010 Grand Caravan. Stuck in up position. Great for me but tough on my husband. 9" taller than me. We checked the switch and low and behold, 2 of the 4 contacts were black. Cleaned them up and IT WORKS AGAIN. Only difference in our van was there were 3 screws to remove. Not a problem though except the 3rd was a torx head screw and other 2 phillips head. No big deal.
Thank you so much for info helping us save a lot of money at a dealer and my husband not having painful knees on our 2500 trip soon.

Made an account to come here and say thank you! My wife and I recently bought a used VW Routan (same thing as a Dodge Caravan except for VW badges). Had this same problem. Could hear the motor engage pushing the pedals upward, but nothing or just a faint whine pushing them downward. Pulled the steering column cover apart (it's a T20 Torx and a #1 Phillips), pulled the switch out, took it apart, removed the contactors (the 2 strips of metal aligned horizontally in the first picture), noticed spots of black gunk on the undersides of the contactors and the poles they contact against (4 little metal nubs right underneath them - not showing in your picture). Scraped all the black gunk off and re-assembled, and now it works again!
