2000 Caravan surging/HVAC issues
Hi All! First time poster.
A question and thank you all for your time.
2000 Caravan 3.0 L went thru an ice storm and became hard to start. Cleaned up and di-electric'd PDC, car starts fine. Problem is, engine is surging and HVAC circuit board cuts out after 15-20 seconds. HVAC plugs are good(no melting), clockspring recall was done recently. Shop diagnosed, put in new alternator, not the problem. A later shop found power going to the rear wiper motor. So, looks like I got juice but HVAC not working.
Any thoughts, and thanks again.

Hi again!
I took out my HVAC circuit board to look for any bad soldering. Looks good, cleaned it up. While I had it out, I found what looks to be a ground plug unattached (one black wire and one orange). Does anyone know what this is for? I've accounted for the blower motor plug and the curcuit board plug. Thanks for you time.

Looking at the wiring diagram, there are two connectors on the HVAC panel, C1 and C2. Both have many contacts. The only orange wire on either connector is for panel lighting. It's on C1. The black wire is one of several grounds.

The connector is not 2 pin. It's a wide gapped female connector that looks nothing like the pin connectors that plug into my blower speed setting and the HVAC curcuit board. I'm guessing it might be an accessary ground, or power to an amplifier.
My HVAC curcuit board came to life after cleaning, but only operates when the ignition switch is in the on position. When I start the vehicle, HVAC cuts out again. I'm thinking ignition switch, and does the ignition switch run 3 ground wires to my junction block relays? The relays were clicking when I used my HVAC functions.
Thank you for your replies.
