I think my work van has a bad heater actuator. I turn the fan on and it immediately starts clicking repeatedly. If I set the climate control to recirc, it shuts off. I've seen pages listing how to retrieve codes for it, but have not seen anything for the 2010's.

Any tips/thoughts? The actuator is only $20 on RockAuto, but I don't want to order it unless I'm sure that's the problem.

the recirc actuator is pretty common. Fold the glove box down and you can see it. When it starts to snap, you should be able to feel it. The gears strip inside and make that noise.

 

Is it a real pain to change?

 

Well, isn't everything these days? I get paid 0.2 hours to replace it, probably takes me a half hour.
