2002 Dodge Grand Caravan sport 3.3l straight pipe

I have a 2002 dodge caravan with a 3.3l v6. i want to modify the exhaust with a straight pipe. can doing this negatively affect my vehicles performance or possibly damage the engine? any and all info is appreciated

Yes, yes and if you live in the US removing the cat is illegal by Federal and most States statutes.

ok let me be specefic. i wan to leave the cat on and remove the muffler. will this damage my engine and if so how?
