Default 2014 DGC Discussion

Hey all,

Just picked up my 2014 DGC SE two weeks ago and I had some questions.

1) Can you buy the Stow n Place aftermarket? If so, does the dealer need to install it or can the customer install it, or is it too hard?

2) Anyone swap the 130 stereo in the 2014s for a 430 stereo without NAV? Any gotchas?

3) Does the 2014 have a timing chain or belt?

4) Can you get the second row window screens aftermarket? I would imagine you would have to replace the interior door panel to one that has a slit in it, right?

5) I understand there are (3) types of consoles; the basic, premium and super. It looks like the basic & premium are interchangeable? However the super looks like it connects to the dash and would probably need to be factory installed?

Thanks,
Justin

I too am wondering how to replace the 130 stereo unit. But im sure it would be cheaper to buy something from Pioneer, kenwood ect. Not only is it cheaper but is of better quality and features. the problem it making it work with the steering wheel controls. Ive tried to search this forum but the info is rather incomplete. I hear its very expensive to get a factory super console and I you could always get your windows tinted as the only way to get factory sunscreen windows is to replace them. I gather you purchaced the avp model as the other SE"s have all those options you spoke of cept for the 430 stereo. I would have been cheaper to get the higher model especially that you want to upgrade to stowngo.

If anyone has a difinitive answer about upgrading the stereo either it be factory or aftermarket....please chime in about what would be needed for seamless intergration rather it be bluetooth/nav.

I found this to be the least intimidating and it is ready to plug and play, fits the dash with no mods, and has all the connections included for rear dvd, back up camera, gps and plays dvd. It also has the harness for the steering wheel controls. Link is to crutchfield for $999.00 but can be had for $633.00 at amazon and a couple other vendors.

I have a SE model, not AVP. I am not talking about tinting, I am talking about the rolling shades that go into the door.

I thought about 3rd party stereos, but I don't trust the steering wheel integration. $900 or $600 is way to expensive, you can get a refurb 430 from OEM CA for like $400....

Decent pioneer receiver w/Bluetooth and optional Sirius/XM $400 MSRP You could also do a 1600 for around $319 without Bluetooth or Sirius capability.

2013 will fit 2014 models. The RP4-CH11 has integrated steering wheel controls. Parts and everything plus install you are still looking at around $600

I wouldn't trust refurbed equipment. They usually carry 30 or 90 day warranties, sometimes if you are lucky you can find one with a year warranty.

It determines the bus speed, I believe all Caravans run the High bus speed.

FYI

I ordered the following stereo for my van:
http://oemautopartsco.com/products/r...een-radio-high

It was so easy to swap out, just pull off the bezel, unscrew 4 screws and swap. Then you power up the van and input the security code.

NOTE: There are two different 430 RBZs out there, one has green backlight buttons and the other has the white/blue backlight buttons. The backlighting is determined by a mark on the back of the radio in the bottom left corner, green or blue mark.

If you order from OEM above, put in your comments which color you want.

do you know if your van is wired for the backup cameran. I have a 2014. I ordered the same radio you did (it's on it's way). I'm wondering if the wire for the backup camera is already in my van so I can add the camera.
