Cars key wouldn’t turn unless you “smacked” it, then it would act as if it didn’t want to start like a dead battery or starter issue, but with a few retries it would fire right up, then one day while running all electronics and instruments went “nuts”, shut off the van and then it wouldn’t start. Eventually it started and moved about a hundred feet. Crazy clicking sound. Had it towed to house then jumped it and moved it into garage. Battery tested bad so new battery installed now it starts very hard by pumping the gas and runs really rough with a very rich mixture. Related/Separate? It ran fine while being jumped. any Ideas?

 

Van starts if you floor it; smells very rich and runs rough. It will stall if you try and let it idle. Battery is new but battery light is still on. Will a bad alternator cause this or is it a separate issue? It all started when the car died which I am assuming was electrical.
