Default Grand Caravan: Convert manual to power liftgate???

So i was at the junkyard snagging up parts to do this, and i have all the parts gathered and stashed in a vehicle. (trim pieces, motor, bcm, button panel up front etc. etc. )

however, i was suprised to see that the wiring harness to the rear of the vehicle didnt contain the wiring for the power door components?!?!

i come from and still live in the land of subarus where there is only one harness made for the cars, and if you want to add a feature, have at it, just get the parts and put it in.

did dodge make different wiring harnesses for the vans based on options? like if i wanted to add this feature at the dealership, they'd have to strip half the van apart to do it?

my donor vans were both 05's i have an 07. i havent looked under the panels at the wiring of my 07 since its 10 degrees out and i dont wanna take the chance of breaking a clip off due to being frozen.

i noticed this same thing for the dvd system i was trying to scavenge as well.

im also wondering if partway up the length of the vehicle if there is a conneccdtion that can be disconnected and i could just snag the rear wiring harness to the lightning and door etc and swap that too. (yes, this project is a lot of work, but we got rear ended a couple weeks ago and i am doing the repair myself and since parts are readily available why not! plus insurance gave me $2k to play with, all i need is a door and a bumper which i can source for about $150 total. )

Welcome to the forum and the Land of Mopar. Yes, we make a different wiring harness for each van depending on the options. There are basically 4 harnesses in the van. The engine harness, the harness for the instrument panel, the harness for the headliner and the main harness which runs from the headlamps to the tail lamps. So you would need to obtain the main harness and the headliner harness at least. I'm pretty sure they go around the instrument panel harness for that option, but if you want the DVD as well and you have to remove the instrument panel to install the main harness, might as well get that one too.

thanks for the response. and for a useful response at that rather than "this has been beaten like a dead horse, the answer is NO"

i have decided to go with the easier route.. told my wife that she has to suck it up and just lift it by hand. and i'll invent a ceiling mounted ipad mount or something for video type stuff.

Thanks!

The video part is the part that is actually doable. There is or was a dealer install kit. I installed it in my '03, couldn't get the headphones to work so had to play sound over the radio but for long trips, anything to keep the kids quite for 2 hours, worth it.
