Default pcm related issues p0601

I got a remanned pcm programmed to my 02 grand caravan sport 3.3 to eliminate a p0601 code. The top wiring harness was hard to plug in and the van rough idle, stalling, misfiring like symptoms started and a new code, p0351 popped up but the p0601 went away. The company i got it from said to do a hard reset on it so I did but nothing came of it. I put the old one back in so i could drive it and besides the p0601 code it ran fine. I decided to try again and the results were the same as the first time only this time the top wiring harness was even more awkward to put on. So I went back to the original pcm while I wait for this company to mail me another pcm . Only now my vehicle idles rough, stalls, spits and sputters with the original pcm back in it and still only shows p0601 code. The only thing that has been done was the pcm swap. Is it possible the p0601 code could cause this or did the defective ones mess me up?

Have you checked your van for the melted wiring harness issue that's so common on the early 4 gens? A fried PCM is a fairly common side effect of the melted harness, and so I'm thinking it's possibly the cause of your original PCM problem. And now when you're moving the wiring harness around, it could also be causing the sporadic misfiring effects. To check for melted wires, you would need to lift the power steering reservoir up off the mount (removal isn't necessary), in order to get access to the section of harness that melts. Then remove the outer covering from the harness, and check each of the wires carefully for melted insulation. If there's melting of those wires, you definitely want to get that fixed before installing the next PCM.

I pulled the reservoir up and located a wiring harness with a red slide clip but couldn't get it to actually release. All the wires were covered w/black insulation. It seems to be part of the wiring that runs to the injector wires. Nothing appeared burnt through even though the wires were dangling really close to the exhaust. It seems like the intake might need to be removed in order to get an easier access to inspecting them. The van won't turn over at all now. I visually checked my fuses. The intake has to be removed to change injector wiring right?

I managed to get the wire protective wrap off of it as it was velcro and the harness disconnected once i could get a good grip on it. Nothing was melted. Anything else I should check before I try installing the new pcm since it won't turn over?

It was the pcm. However the online company I purchased it from only asked for the vin, year, make and, model of the vehicle. I finally broke down and took it to the dealership. There they asked if the van has an egr valve or not. The online company never did. I assume that's why the one's from all computer resources didn't work. The code cleared finally.
