Default Power steering cooler hose blowing

This is a 2006 Grand Caravan
Keeps blowing inlet hose to power steering cooler
I have replaced the reservoir with a new one thinking screen was clogged.
This did no good
It will blow this hose within 20 miles of driving or on start up on cold morning.
Could the pump be bad and building too much pressure?

Did you break the original reservoir apart to see what the inside looked like? On mine there was only a surprisingly thin layer of sludge on the screen - just enough to cause the whining, but nothing else. I'm wondering if your's had more stuff in it, indicating some additional problem in the PS system. And if so, maybe it's become plugged up again? Also, how about the fluid - was it only filled with ATF+4, or was some other type of fluid used?

I did not check the screen
I have used only ATF+4
I have replaced this hose 5 times in 2 weeks
only once after replacing reservoir
It blows same hose going to cooler every time
Van has 167,000 miles on it.

I know this post is rather old but did you ever figure it out? I’m having the same issue and I’m weeks in at this point. I don’t have the money to buy a new vehicle right now and have 3 kids with one on the way any week now so I really need to figure it out. I’m so damn frustrated and have been searching the web for suggestions day and night. Finally came across your post but doesn’t look like anyone was able to help you unfortunately so wondering what you ended up doing? Thanks

I’m not sure what years it applied to, but in the early 2000’s there was a recall regarding one of the power steering cooler hoses. You can punch in your VIN on the NHTSA’s website - https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?gclid=...B&gclsrc=aw.ds - and it should tell you whether or not the recall applies.

If it does, call a dealer about getting it replaced.

I think the rack and pinion was original problem if I had replaced reservoir again when I put new rack and pinion on I would have been OK.
Last thing I did was replace reservoir again and it stopped blowing hose. Hope this helps.
