[4th Gen : 01-07]: Problem with Transmission
Hi, While driving on the expressway at 70mph, all of a sudden the van would not go any faster. It would only slow down. The check engine light came on. We could not go any faster the 30 without the RPM going over 3000. We took it to autozone. The used there codes reader and the codes 700, 733, 734 came up. We then changed the input and output speed sensor. Now it will not go into reverse. Before this happened there was no signs that there was a problem with the tranny. Could I please get some help. We do not have the money to take it to a shop.
Model year? First disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 minutes to reset everything.
The P0700 is telling you the Transmission Control Module (TCM) has detected and stored a fault code. Could be the other two transmission codes or additional codes readable with a transmission specific scanner. The P0733 and 34 are 3rd and 4th gear, gear ratio error codes. They can be caused by the sensors you changed. They can also indicate slipping clutch pads and wear problems. That is proven by a shop reading the Clutch Volume Index (CVIs) numbers with a scanner - around $100. What would I do in your spot? Verify the wiring from the sensors to the TCM are good. Then I would drop the fluid pan and check for any debris in the pan beyond the usual fuzz on the magnets. If it's there you will most likely need a rebuild. While in there change the filter. Use only ATF+4 fluid.

We did check the fluid level and it was good. It does not smell burnt. Not sure when the fluid was changed last. I will look into that. It has 150,000 miles on it. I will change the fluid and the filter. Thanks for responding.
