I first notice the right signal would not AUTOMATICALLY shut off, then as you turned the wheel it would bind a bit and you would hear a cracking sound.. that was the sound of the clock spring, falling apart..small plastic pieces breaking.
i took it apart today, and the signal cam may be damaged also...

my question is , once you take a perfectly good clockspring out, is it any good to use.. i took one out a few years ago to, see if it was allowing the airbag lite to be on, it was not.. i am thinking once there in and you take out they are no good... but not sure..

 

If you took it apart/out without the steering wheel centered, it could be bad news.


You can re-center (with the clockspring in your hand) by making turns until it stops, count the turns until the opposite stop, divide by 2 and that's the middle.


If you left it centered and didn't let it turn, you'll be fine.


If the airbag deploys...NEVER REUSE THE CLOCKSPRING, even if it looks good on the outside.

 

I was able to get a used flasher switch and used clockspring, it works good... the flasher switch cam was broken and it was interfering with the clockspring...

Yes the clockspring was used and came out of a 2002 caravan. the air bag was still in place.
