[3rd Gen : 96-00]: 98 Caravan 3.0L fuel injector compatibility
I have a 98 Dodge Caravan with a 3.0L engine.
Car body has 290,000 miles. New shortblock about 60,000 miles ago.
But I have never serviced the fuel injectors. I have always added frequently fuel injector liquid cleaners at regular intervals. I am now experiencing what I believe is leak back in the one or more injectors at the cylinders. I have replaced fuel pump/regulator in the last six months. Engine is hard start after shutoff, no matter if cold or warm. The process we use to start is to go through a series of three key turns from off to start. By either the 3rd or 4th ignition key turn, van will start. I think it is just time to replace all the injectors as a set both to resolve the hard start problem as well as for better fuel economy.
My question is this: the injectors in this engine are OEM or MP1008. I have checked both online injector rebuilders as well as Ebay. There are several venders on Ebay who are selling rebuilt Bosch OEM, Bosch II 4-hole, as well as Nikki injectors at what I consider reasonable costs.
I have never replaced injectors before on any of the vehicles I own. When the Ebay ads say that their injector is compatable or even an upgrade, need I be concerned over compatibility with my van's ECM, wiring harness/hookup or any other unforeseen factor?
As always, thanks so much for all of your generous feedback/input.
Sincerely,
dennis mccrea
