Default 3.3l to 4.0l

Looking to swap a 3.3l for a 4.0l.

#1. Will it bolt up to the trans and mounts?
#2. I know I'll have to do wiring, that's not an issue.
#3. Anything I'm forgetting?

Mostly I need to know if it will bolt in, or how much difference there is in mounting.

well not exactly direct swap. think the tranny on the 3.3 is a 4 speed. tranny on the 4.0 is the 6 speed. now if u get complete unit u still might need wiring harness, pcm possibly. its going to probably be a big job. unless u take a donor vehicle and get everything from it, I belive from 3.8 to a 4.0l is a more option because they I think have everything else or most, ive read it never did one.

Defiantely don't want the 6spd from everything i've been reading, unless there is a definate fix for them.

I'll have to graft the 4.0 harness and ecm to my van's most likely, which I've dealt with before.

It's no fun if it's not a big job.

I have a line on a wrecked 4.0 van cheap, so it has me thinking.

My concern would be I don't know how much torque the 41TE can handle. The highest output from the factory that the 41TE was ever installed with was 250 ft-lbs on the Pacifica. Traditionally "2" strength level transmissions were used with the 3.5L and 4.0L (42LE/42RLE & 62TE). That said, I understand not liking the 62TE. If you are willing to give it a try, please let us know how it turns out.

I would most likely beef my trans up before bolting it to the 4.0. I'm willing to try anything once. I'll keep researching and if I start I'll post up a thread.

This swap is going to be going underway soon. Our trans is on it's last leg (there's supposed to be chunks of aluminum in the pan right?) and I have a line on a wrecked 4.0l van.

I'll be getting the whole van to tear out what I need, so I'll be taking engine, trans, ecu, harness, mounts, etc.
I'm not expecting this to be easy.
