Default Tire Pressure Monitor and Stability Control

Does the tire pressure monitor effect stability control?

Reason I ask is because I went for a quote for new tires on my 2010 GC and the guy insisted I replace my tire pressure sensors even though they are fine because they are "old" and going to die soon. As he put it, when my sensors die it disables or screws up the ABS and stability/traction control because it's all "integrated."

Am I going nuts here or is this guy and his manager with 15 years "experience" retarded?

As for TPMS battery life, they are designed to last 5 to 10 years. Our van doesn't have the system but of the 4 other vehicles in the family that do (06-07 Ford, Honda, Toyota) none have been replaced and all are working fine.

As for TPMS/ESC integration that's a new one on me but I'm not a tech either.
