Minivan 2001 2.4L
When pull off the car there is shattering. First gear is bad and the second maybe. I went to 2 shops and they want to rebuild the transmission for $1500. It is for me very expensive considering the fact that Dodge is on 150000mi and 13 years old – if in a good condition the best price I can get is $1500. I am driving it for four months in that condition – when I am pulling off – no gas pedal – after a while, slightly pressing the pedal, second gear is engaging at 15mph, at 20mph – 3rd gear. On third gear everything is OK. This is a three speed transmission -31TH .
Any idea what is broken? Can I replace something by myself or really rebuild is required?

 

Check your kickdown linkage. It may be broke or need adjusting. Goes from the throttle body to the trans. It sounds like it is shifting too early causing excess slippage.
