[4th Gen : 01-07]: Max tire size on 2007 caravan??
Living in the backwoods of California mountains, Driving on many dirt - primitive roads. I have a 2007 Chrysler grand caravan 3.3. 205-70-15 stock tires. I would like a bit more height and aggressive tread. Much research finds a general grabber - SUV tire with 16/32 tread depth [!] vs. typical 11/32 on most tires. Width is not much different.
But these are 225-70-15. [NOT a LT tire] Specs tell me these are only about 7/8" taller. Instinct tells me they will work. Really tired of plugging tires every week. Yes, I already have a jeep, bulldozer and a few excavators, so don't tell me that. Nice to travel in comfort to the jobsite. Think they will fit?
On the side.....Also a 2000 dodge caravan, 150,000 miles, base model - bought new and no repairs except a radiator and the usual regulars. Run it on Delo 15-40. Has much more clearance than the 2007 even with 14" rims. Body completely beat to death - one plywood side window, wire pull to open rear gate [excavator swing modification - open drivers door was used to stop the van once while backing up on a midnight mountainside with a oak tree. Doesn't close too well.]
Looks like a demo derby van from multiple incursions with backhoe buckets and outriggers. 2 oil pans from high centering on rocks. But it seems to have positraction front end - just can't be stopped unless you do something really stupid. One bad point: that van has the oil filter as the lowest point in the front - took it out many times on rocks and branches...
Did various years of Caravan have different differentials? I don't mean ABS type sensing - this one does not have it. I had a base model 2007 Dodge caravan that would get stuck everywhere the 2000 base could fly by.
