Default Code P1391 and random stalls

code P1391 (intermittent loss of crank or cam signal)

My 2003 Van 3.3L has been randomly dying on me. Mostly at stop lights, but occasionally while driving..

I have checked my flex plate for cracks, via the torque converter cover underneath

im hoping its just a crank or cam sensor. have any of you resolved a similar issue before?

I'm reading time after time a cracked flex plate is the issue. Many times they crack around the hub. Tough to see that from the inspection plate.

I replied the crank sensor and still had the same problem. But after that, I got a new code on top of the previous one. Code for camshaft position sensor. I just replaced it but havnt tries driving the van yet.

The crank sensor was on the bell housing on the driver side under the exhaust Manifold towards the back. Had to do the whole job by feel. Couldn't see anything.

The cam sensor was easier. On the passenger side under intake pipe. 10mm bolt. I used some long lose pliers to wiggle it and pull it out. It was stuck pretty good. First 2 pics are of new sensor installed. Last pic is the old sensor with lots of crud on it
