[2nd Gen : 91-95]: Loose drive shaft help
Hi Guys,
New to this forum and looking for some help!
I have a LHD 1994 dodge grand caravan 3.3ltr V6 FWD.
I was having trouble with a leak from my gearbox where the driver side drive shaft (axle) enters the gearbox. On investigation I found the drive shaft to had 1-2cm of lateral movement (direction towards the wheel and gearbox). It is not the cv joints etc. as the whole shaft moved in and out of the gear box and the joints are in good condition.
I suspected it may have been a worn clip at the end of the drive shaft allowing the movement so removed the drive shaft and seals. (Seal was also not in great condition).
Once I removed I could see the driveshaft has no location for the retainer clip and as I understand it does not have one....
What I need help with is to understand how/what holds the drive shaft in place before I put everything back together? I have ordered new seals, cup and spacer.
If anyone can help would be great!!
Thanks Miki

More than likely there is no clip. The hub assy keeps the driveshaft in the housing. On my Dakota, the front axle shaft just had a rubber O-ring. Not really to "hold" the driveshaft in, the other end that is bolted to the hub keeps it from coming out.
