[3rd Gen : 96-00]: 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Front Wipers Help?
Hi Everyone,
Im new here, and Im hoping someone can help me with this problem. Last year my front wipers started acting up. I was coming home from shopping when a down pour hit, and about 1 hr from home the wipers just stopped and froze in the up position. You could hear the motor working but they would not go down. My daughter had to push on the passenger side to make it go down. Once pushed back down they would come up on their own but freeze at the top again. Needles to say, getting home was a challenge. My neighbor and I replaced the wiper motor and it was working properly. But about 5 months after that my front passenger floor board started getting soaked when it rained. It was raining for 2 weeks straight before we found out that the rain drain in the wiper motor housing (sorry, not sure whats its called) was clogged and caused the water to fill up in there and backwash into my ac intake opening and was draining under the passenger dash. After getting that unclogged and cleaned out the wipers started acting up again. So I had my neighbor replace the motor again thinking the other one was just a bad motor. However the wipers still will not function properly. Now with this new motor in it will ONLY work on the highest speed. Also we cant get the wipers aligned either, or to stay in sync. The other day my daughter and I changed out the wiper/turn signal switch on the steering wheel thinking it was the control. Nope, not that either. We even checked the fuses and Relays under the hood only. Honestly, not sure how many this van has. I should also add that that clock spring broke about 6 years ago. Only thing ive noticed it affects is the horn, cruse control and airbag.
So can someone please please tell me what it might be. Could that standing water have ruined the wires that lead from the wiper motor to the wipers? Or could it be the clock spring? or could it be the BCM? HELP Please!

The clock spring effects anything in the steering wheel, not in the steering column. No it won't effect your wipers. While changing the parts did you inspect the connections for corrosion, misaligned contacts, pushed contacts or did you give each wire a slight tug to make sure they are crimped into the contact? Do the same to the connections under the IPM. You've changed the logical parts. Time to verify wiring and connections before considering the BCM.
Might try swapping the wiper on and wiper high/low relays in the IPM. That's the only two relays in the system.
Can you expand on "can't get them aligned or stay in sync?

Thank you Cougar41 for your reply. Glad to know the clock spring wont affect that. Sooner or later that will be a part to replace to.
We checked everything on the wiper/turn signal switch, but the neighbor installed the wiper motor. He works on vehicles a lot so im sure he installed it correctly. As I was watching I didnt see anything loose or out of place but I didnt have my hands on it either so cant say for sure.
We already swapped the wiper on relay with the wiper low/high relay. That is what I meant by when I said we checked the fuse and relay.
Cant get them aligned or to stay in sync, I mean I turn the wipers on high and then turn them off, the wipers will stop right where they are. So if there going up when I turn the switch off the wipers stop straight up. They dont go down and rest. Staying In sync probably has to do with them not stopping and parking correctly.
Another mechanic friend said it could be the wiper arms its self. The thread is probably stripped. So Wed will pull them off and check to see. If not then I guess will check the wiper linkage!? Im not even sure what the parts are called. I cant really find anything online pertaining to the wipers other than the motor.
