Default Have OBDII but NO codes due to battery

I got a 2004 Caravan 3.8l from my sister in-law and it apparently ran fine till a tune up.

I went over a few months ago to take a look at it and it had a few codes. If I recall correctly, one of them was something about maybe a #3 cylinder misfire or something and maybe an O2 sensor (I just can't remember)

The problem I'm having is the battery was pulled and it cleared all codes. I don't know the drive cycle on this and it sounds like it's going to blow up if I drive it so I'm hesitant to push the limits as it could be something simple.

Is there a way to get this to throw the codes so I can at least start to rule things out?

I just want the codes to come back (I know, right? Ha ha)

Also, I've seen conflicting "drive cycle" processes so I have no idea which to even look at. So, if you know...It's much appreciated!

Have you stuck a scanner on it to see if the codes are still there by chance? It wont throw codes again until the engine goes into closed loop which does not happen usually until the engine gets to operating temperature. What is it doing when you try to drive it?

Sorry, I actually was posting this for my dad.

Here's where we're at. I'm able to get 3 of the 4 codes- P00302, P0700 & P0172

He says he can drive it but it shakes like crazy, sounds like 2 cylinders misfiring and he has to keep giving it gas to keep it from dying.

Google those codes and see what they mean.

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0302

The 302 could be causing the 172.
