[5th Gen : 08+]: 2015 Dodge Caravan Transmission slipping
hello everyone,
I just bought a 2015 dodge caravan I've only had it for about 2 months now. I started noticing a clicking sound within the transmission whenever I am in drive and my foot on the brakes. it repeats every 15-25 seconds (click-click-click-click). I took it in to the dealership and they said it was normal operation and this was about 3 weeks ago.
Now whenever I'm picking up speed when I get to 4th and 5th gear shift I've noticed that the RPM would rise before it catches the gear and goes back to normal. I have been told it is not normal and that the transmission is bad.
has anyone had these issues or can you all give me some advice on what should be my next step??

Do you have the 2.8L or 3.6L engine, alfie? I can look to see if there is a TSB that could be related to what you're experiencing. One possibility I would recommend is getting a second opinion at a different dealership. We stand behind the opinions of our dealership service teams, but it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.
Hey guys just joined your forum, because I just bought a brand new 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan ( SXT Premium Plus ). It has the 3.6 engine with the 6-Speed Automatic 62TE Transmission. I've owned it for a couple of weeks now and I just noticed the same sound that alfie describes above. I tried to see if it does it while holding the brake and putting the tranny in P,R,N, but it only does this (click-click-click-click) when holding the break and in D. I put a long piece of would up to the tranny housing and it definitely coming from there. Its pretty disappointing if this means I am already gonna have transmission issues. I mean the car has less than 1000K on it! Especially since I bought it because my old ride with 380,000k on it needed to have the transmission re-built. I am extremely curious about any information that you have to offer Jack.
Not yet, the van is still behaving normal, its the sound that has just developed, and with the holidays around the corner I cant see getting to the dealer until after New Years. Plus, to be honest, I bought the van from a dealer that was across the city for the best price, but haven't decided which dealer in my area I'm going to choose. Although, I am anticipating the "its sounds normal" response as well.
What about after 60K? So I take it your van makes that sound too smokesxt? My car makes that sound every 12 seconds or so in D with the break on, and its like, tic, tic, tic, shhhick. Its like the break is disengaging something temporarily.

I know of 5 people off hand with the 3.6/6-speed vans. All of them have had their transmissions replaced at least once. None of them made 60k. 2 of them are on their 3rd trans under 100k. The main reason I won't even think about looking at a van with the 3.6/6-speed combo.
You're kidding? Jeez, if I had that info before hand I would have gone in a completely different direction. As I said the reason for buying a van at this point is so that we have a reliable form of transportation with two young kids. Having a transmission failure under 60K is unacceptable.
