Hello! I have a '97 Caravan, 3.3L. When I turn the key to start it, the dash lights go off and on changing brightness, the odometer goes off, and a clicking noise comes from the lower part of the dash. This clicking has a varying frequency, continues after the key is off and goes off if I turn the dimmer off. Sometimes I get lucky and it turns right over- but usually there is no attempt to turn over at all. It did this a few weeks ago, but at that time I took the battery out and had it tested (it was fine), and when the battery went back in there was no issue. Now I have gotten it to turn over on two separate occasions after many attempts. Any help offered is greatly appreciated.

 

Starter solenoid contacts. They often wear after years of use. You can change the starter or just the contacts for less than have the cost.
