[3rd Gen : 96-00]: window alignment issue, FM radio?
Hello to all!
I'm a recent purchaser of a 97' Grand Caravan ES with 185k miles for $700. I just did a tuneup, wow what fun the back 3 plugs were... I have 2 questions:
1. Is there a best way to fix a window alignment problem on drivers side? It goes up, but with 3" left it gets off alignment and leans towards engine.
2. My radio only on rare occasions plays FM. AM works fine 100% of the time and its still an original factory radio.
thanks,
Ted
Welcome to the forum. Your best bet is to remove the door panel and inspect the tracks and regulator mechanism. Sounds like something is off track. As far as the radio goes, it's almost 20 years old. Probably no good to try and repair. You can get cheap head units these days. I'd just replace it. Check out crutchfield.com. They can set you up with everything you need to replace the factory radio.
Also check the antenna connection behind the glove box, seen that get disconnected. And window is usually a worn glass run weatherstrip, it gets worn to the rubber in the front so it grabs the glass when it comes up. Can try spraying it with some lubricant and see if it gets better and then you will know for sure.
The whole window regulator assembly can be had for as little as $30-40. I would be leary of getting a whole assembly from a wrecking yard unless you want just that piece. They fail too often.
