Question 03 Grand Caravan 3.8 Turn Signal Problems

Got pulled over by a State Trooper earlier today, because my right turn signal was acting strange. Turning on the right signal causes the rear left, middle, and right lights to flash, like how they would if you turn on the hazards. The left turn signal is functioning normally. While the vehicle is on, and in park, turning on either the right turn signal, or the hazard lights will result in a loud, irregular clicking noise coming from inside the dashboard, between the steering column and the radio, in addition to the normal, rhythmic clicking that the turn signal causes.

Attempted fixes so far include pulling the IOD and disconnecting the battery, followed by replacing the turn signal switch in the steering column. The vehicle has a wiring harness for a trailer hookup, which was installed shortly after it was purchased, back in 2003, but it's used very rarely.

It sounds like you have a short somewhere connecting the brake lights to the right signal. The trailer wiring would be the best place to start. I would check for continuity (at the trailer wiring plug) between the right signal and brake lights.

First I would take the trailer harness out of the circuit. They often cause headaches similar to yours and they don't have to be connected to a trailer to do it.

Second I would inspect connections at FCM connection to IPM and on the bottom of the IPM.

Problem Solved. The harness was installed ages ago, so, I guess something inside of the splitter went bad. Took the wiring harness out of the circuit, the problem was solved, removed the harness from the vehicle, once I replace a burnt out bulb, everything will be good to go.

Success! Glad to hear your headache is over.
