[4th Gen : 01-07]: Some basic maintenance questions for '04 Caravan 3.3L
Howdy,
New to the forum, not to Caravans. My father owns a 2004 Caravan V6 3.3L and is recovering from some surgery. I plan on doing the maintenance on his vehicles while he recovers. Despite my normally exceptional Google skills, I have two questions I was hoping someone could answer:
1) Is 110 ft-lbs the correct torque spec for lugs on the stock rims? If not, what is the correct value?
2) Does anyone have a diagram or advice on where the best jack points are to lift all four tires off of the ground using a floor jack and jack stands? I'm assuming, like other cars, the lower control arms are good for the floor jack and the pinch welds for the stands? Any insight would be appreciated. I'd hate to crunch something. I have read that there is no cross beam point to jack both wheels in the air simultaneously (as I am used to on all of my other cars), so I am curious as to how people safely lift their vans.

The jacking points are listed in the owners manual. If you don't have an owners manual, you can download one for free here >> http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/
Basically two jack engagement points on each side of the body on the sill flange (behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel) and consist of a pair of downstanding tabs. (from owners manual).
Also, from the manual, the correct wheel lug torque is 95 ft. lbs.

Regarding the jack points, I always use the pinch weld (sill flange) for the jack stands and a different point to jack up the wheels on my other cars (can't place a jack stand on the flange if the floor jack is using it to lift the tire). Where else on the body do people use to lift the wheels, or place the stands? Control arms, tow hooks, middle of the rear axle to lift both wheels (I am hesitant about that one), etc?
