Default Mirror and overhead (map) lights not working

Hi, I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with the map/overhead and mirror lights all of a sudden not working. It's on a 1996 Grand Caravan SE. All the other interior lights work fine, including the ones above the rear passengers seats R & L side. They worked fine when I bought the van 1 1/2 years ago.
It was, believe it or not, owned by a little old lady in Florida who kept a record book of all the recommended dealer service according to Dodge, right down to the actual mile specified in the manual, and made the tech sign her book.
I don't see a separate fuse for just those 4 lights unless I am missing it. Is there a switch somewhere that I'm missing? I looked in the 2 compartments for glasses and a garage remote to see if there was a button or switch in them but saw nothing. I couldn't find anything in the manual either. There was mention of something that would cause then not to work, I don't remember what it was but I did check and that was not it. I'm sure it is something stupid I am overlooking, but I am lost as to what. The mirrors I can do without but the map lights do come in handy.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Top.

Could may be a loose plug that plugs in for those lights. Might have to pull it off the headliner and see what's wrong.

Yours is a compass, storage, and lights or just map lights?

Hi Mike
Mine has lights and compartments for glasses and garage remote. I don't see any screws to pull the whole thing off. I can't remember doing anything that would have caused it. I don't see how to get to the mirror light bulbs or the map light bulbs. Maybe the lenses pop off or the whole unit in the middle pulls off but I don't want to yank on it until I know for sure. Maybe I'll stop at a dealer and see if one of the mechanics can tell me. I think you are right though, it's probably a plug coming loose. Thanks' I'll post if I find the answer
Top.

You can download the factory service manual and it has the instructions on how to remove the overhead console. In the overhead console chapter page 551. Removal starts at the end of page 556. You do have to pry off the map light lens and some screws and clips are visible when removing the sunglass holder door.

It's for a 98, but most stuff is the same 96-00

The interior lights are powered by the courtesy lamp relay and that is controlled by the BCM. Most of the lights are working so that's not where the problem lies. Both the map and mirror lights circuits go through separate splices. I'm thinking you have a wire problem. Not sure but my logic tells me the wires for both run from the junction block (interior fuse/relay panel) up through the drivers side "A" pillar and under the headliner to the lights in question. Might have a look see.
