A Arm bushing replacement

Ive got to replace the bushing in my moms 01 grand caravan. I was wundering if anyone has done this and could give me some tips before I tear into my moms van.

If I may ask, how come you have to replace it?? Ive never seen one go bad.

Dont know is the second time its happened but it seems to last about 50,000mi then it goes bad and its only the passenger side one.
