Hello again. I just replaced a six month old TCM under warranty. No limp mode or anything, and I just had the battery tested. (Is there a way to test for battery shorts?) I now have only intermittent boxes around the gear indicator on the dash. To make them go away when they pop up, all you have to do is run the selector through all the gears and they're gone. Is this van safe to drive this way, and what can I try to fix it? My wife is understandably paranoid.
