van started running rough came back with p0201 and p0301 so i changed injector reassembled still had p0201 took it back apart found the melted injector harness changed it still having code p0201 had computer looked at. the drivers were good and they have connection to pins. yesterday i hooked tset light to battery n to the 10 pin harness for injector 1 and it pulsed today it didnt . should i cut injector wire at pcm and at 10 pin for fuel rail and run another wire? sorry if im all over the place just confused and frustrated.. any feed back helps thanks

 

ok sorry rechecked it no ground pulse to injector1 but all others have a pulsed ground. i attached multi-meter to injector 1 pin on the 10 pin harness side and touched all the other pins on the pcm connectors the only signal was on pin 14 which is injector 1..checked for short to ground with test light as well.. so wire has to be ok correct? do i cut injector wire at bot end n run a different wire or get pcm?

 

ok wires all check ok so i need a pcm ecm whatever.. i found one numbers matching. mine is a no security no egr valve i found a guy who will come n reprogram with my vin and mileage for 100.00 will it matter if the pcm i get came from a vehicle with a factory security system and a egr valve seeing how hes gonna reprogram it?

 

If it doesn't have SKIM, there is no way to change the VIN. You need one with no security. It won't work. The EGR is also a hardware issue as well. You need to make sure those wires are separated and insulated before you stick another PCM on there.

 

how do i find out if a pcm was set up with a security system in it and a egr valve? what is skim? sorry to ask these questions but im unfamiliar with all of this. i did change out fuel rail harness n went as far as i could into both ends of harness from pcm to the injector 10 pin im pretty sure its good. i unplugged from inj harness and from pcm and we tested wires while wiggling harness and readings never changed.

 

Have an agreement with this guy - he fixes it 100% or you won't pay him anything.

 

SKIM is the security. PCMs that have it and don't have it are not compatible. If you get a used PCM without SKIM and put it in a car without SKIM, you cannot change the VIN in the "new" PCM.



BTW, 100 bucks is what a dealership charges. The guy's not doing you any favors.

 

so id be better off ordering from a online retailer who repairs em like autocomputersupply.com or allcomputerresources.com etc. since theres no way of telling by looking at one if it has skim or egr hardware in it? when i give a company my vin will that tell them mine is a non egr and no security just keyless entry?

how do you tell if you have a pcm with skim? when i lock doors horn honks but parking lights dont flash when i turn key on engine off i dont see any lights that say security.. i found window sticker in owners manual it says remote keyless entry with engine immobilizer.
