Default Third brake light issues

The LED third brake light does not always come on. At times it will flicker on and off, stay on or not come on at all. Majority of the time it does not come on at all. Is there an easy fix for this?

Hi 22si,

Is this something your Dodge dealership has addressed for you?

I dont want to spend an arm and a leg at the dealership. I was hoping someone could help me with what could be causing this so I could fix it.

A guess. A loose or corroded connection or a TIPM problem. Everything is multiplexed through the CAN data bus these days so it's tough for a DIYer to troubleshoot beyond inspecting connections. The TIPM and the liftgate connections would be my targets. The TIPM is the totally integrated power module better known as your fuse box. Disconnect the negative battery cable before accessing connections. Afterwords you may need to reset your radio security code.

BTW - Some forums have Chrysler Corp customer care reps as members. They do come in handy in many situations but they sure do push the company line don't they.
