[3rd Gen : 96-00]: Radiator fan doesn't turn on
I have a 97 dodge grand caravan with a 3.3 engine. The radiator fan does not turn on. This happened last year and I changed the relay to fix it. This was a lucky guess.
At this time I can not afford to throw parts at it. I also have very little understanding of electronics. Can someone dumb down troubleshooting this?

A binding fan will draw higher amps to keep spinning. This can overheat the relay. With the ignition off, spin the fans by hand and make sure they spin freely.
The relay is bolted to the frame for a reason. The frame acts as a heat sink to draw heat away from the relay. Make sure the relay is securely against the frame. I don't recall if this is a requirement or just good thing to do but they make a thermal paste you apply to the back of the relay before installing to ensure adequate heat transfer to the frame. Your dealer or good parts store may know about it.
