Default exhaust and a louder sound

Hi all

not sure how to explain my self... but lets try

when I drive my van (2008 dodge caravan) during normal times, the exhaust sounds normal, occasionally, the sound gets louder and deeper on the left side (likely more so on the second row), but generally does not last long and goes away...

BUT, when it rains - the exhaust sound is louder and deeper consistently, and it goes away (no joke) when the rain stops...

it sounds weird i know, but what could be wrong? i am assuming its the exhaust

any insights would be appreciated - if i can fix it myself, or do i need to go to a mechanic (i want to be aware of what the problem may be)

also, my heat shield at the back (just above the tailpipe), 2/3 bolts rusted and i am using gorilla tape to hold it up.

You will need to get under it and inspect your exhaust system. Sorry. Can't do that for you.
