Default Squirrels Ate My Wiring!!!! :(

I have this dilema. My wiring has been destroyed by squirrels. I have no headlights, no tail lights, no blinkers, no horn, the electric windows won't work and who knows what else.... So, I took it to a local place, and they informed me that in order to repair the damage, it would cost me more than the van is worth. They informed me it could take an incredible amount of time, and that I just needed to get another vehicle. Well, unfortunately, I am unable to do that. I am stuck with what I have, so I have to try to fix this myself. I am looking for some instructions on how to replace wiring and I am not having any luck. I have searched YouTube, and have found several videos that gave me a vague idea, but nothing specific. Can anyone here help me with this (maybe direct me to a link where I can get some info on how I can TRY to do this?).. I would really appreciate it.. I can't drive after dark anymore, and I live alone out in a very rural area alone... This has severely handicapped me and I am hoping I will be able to make this repair myself. Thank you in advance!

If you are unfamiliar with automotive wiring and electrical work, I would have to agree with the shop.

The shop you took it to didn't do you any favors. They just didn't want to mess with it.
In a perfect world, just buy another vehicle. In the real world, not everybody can afford one.
Chances are the damage is only in one or maybe two places. Most likely the damaged wires could be spliced back together without replacing large harnesses.
I don't think it would be that hard to fix, or take very long to fix, but then again, i have not seen the problem.
If you are close to me, i will do what i can for free.
