I want to haul two kayaks in my van. Problem is that I do not know how to stop the liftgate where I need to stop it just at the top of the kayaks sticking out the back.
There is no info in the manual about this problem.

 

That's because the manufacturer of the vehicle does not want you to drive around with objects protruding from the back of the vehicle. Hence, the lift gate has two positions: Open and Closed. It is what it is.
