I just bought a 2016 Grand Caravan R/T. It has what I'm guessing is the higher end A/C system with the individual climate controls. No matter what the setting, the system seems to always be in recirc mode, whether the recirc switch is light or not. My Ford Escape always defaults to recirc but I can hit the switch to turn it off. Is this not an option on the Dodge or might the fresh air door need repair?

 

the dealer can perform a door calibration test... the doors will move thru their complete range of motion...if there is a problem with the door movement...it will fail this test.

 

I meant to reply sooner but got busy. After a few days of cool nights and warm days. I have learned that, as long as it is cooler outside than the inside temp, the fresh air works. As soon as the outside air is warmer than inside, the recirc comes on by itself. I don't know if that is the way it is supposed to be but I'll find out next week when I get a door lock actuator replaced at the dealer.

 

manual or automatic hvac system?

 

It has an auto button but I have that turned off. I found out if I press the recirc button (not already lit but recirc is on) and then press it again, it turns off the recirc. Kinda weird.
