[5th Gen : 08+]: Want to disable the liftgate warning beeper?
If you have a 5th Gen Caravan, you've probably noticed how loud the liftgate warning beeper is. I decided to so something about it and the first step was finding where the beeper is located. In earlier generations, I've read that the beeper is outside the vehicle in the lightbar above the license plate. In 5th Gen Caravans, the beeper is located inside the vehicle, which is one of the reasons it is so ridiculously loud for people inside the van.
If you are similarly annoyed, you can easily neuter the beeper without tools. Just open the compartment where the jack is normally stowed and remove the jack - assuming your Caravan came with one. Also remove the loose piece of carpet behind the jack. Now bend down and look up into that compartment on the rear pillar. The beeper is attached to the rear pillar inside of and a little above the opening to the jack compartment. The beeper has two wires equipped with a plug that connect it to the liftgate control module. Just disconnect that plug and it's "mission accomplished"!
After doing this, the liftgate still operates correctly and there are no errors or warnings, so there does not seem to be any downside. Just peace and quiet.
Cheers!
