Default 2017 Gr. Caravan GT...How to install DVD screen for 2nd and 3rd row?

I have a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan GT. It has a DVD player in the dash that will play DVDs. However the roof console for the 2nd and 3rd row does not have screens to watch. The roof console just has the stock storage console. Can I just buy the screens and put them in place of the stock roof console? Would there alrwalr be wiring up there for the DVD screens, so I could just remove the old console and put the screens in it's place, and just plug them in and it would connect to my factory dash DVD player?

I just bought the same van for my wife...with the exact same dilemma. We've always had the DVD screens for this kids, but this van only has the four storage compartments. In doing a little research this morning, I found the following site. It looks like there is a cable made by Chrysler/Dodge that connects to the screens. Of course, buying the OEM equipment is going to be costly, but with that overhead console pre-installed, the only other option is headrest style screens.

https://www.moparpartswebstore.com/a...ad/i23672.html

I only bought the van a day or so ago, so I haven't had a chance to see if that wiring is already installed. Based on the schematic, I would assume it is since it appears that is the same wiring that operates the lighting & rear HVAC controls. Now...the catch. Our old van (2008 Grand Caravan) had the stereo with retractable screen & capability to play DVDs. However, the factory-installed DVD system used a separate DVD player mounted lower in the dash. I don't yet know where the DVD portion of that wiring will lead. It may require disassembling the dash and connecting the wires to the back of the stereo unit.

Good luck & let me know if you figure anything out.

Default I’m in the same boat

The dealership told me this isn’t an option (ridiculous, I know). Mopar doesn’t offer the parts to do this, and they don’t recommend an aftermarket screen because of all the electrical components stored in the existing console.

Thanks for confirming. I guess we'll go the portable DVD route again. Maybe I should have went with the SXT instead of the GT.

Default Any word on parts?

Manitronix,
do you have any updates? I have the 430n and looking to add the screens in the overhead console but couldn’t find the wiring.

can you add an av out on the screen and then run aftermarket headrest screens to play from the OEM headunit?
