[2nd Gen : 91-95]: No shutoff and now no start with key
Hello, I am posting and hoping I can find some help. First post on the forum and i will try to give as much information as i can provide.
I drive a 1995 Dodge Caravan with the 3.3l. Yesterday after driving and starting and shutting down my van around town all day without any issues, I return home and try to switch off the engine, and it continues to run. I disconnect the battery with the key in the off position and it killed the engine. I hooked up the battery and thought nothing of it. However, when I tried to start my van this morning with the key, nothing happens. All of the dash lights come on as normal, but when I turn the key to start, the "brake" light comes on, and the other lights dim, but I get nothing, not even any clicking. I have since checked and cleaned the battery terminals and connections, as well as the battery voltage which is a healthy 12.31v. I did some checking of the relays and fuses and they all check out. The last thing I tried is removing the starter relay and jumping the starter relay terminal with the key in the on position, and it started as normal..so now I am wondering what the problem could be. A problem between the ignition where the key is inserted to the relay box under the hood?..Im just stumped as electrical is not my specialty..hope you guys can give me a hand, thanks.
