As of last night at 2215 PST I am the proud owner of this nice 2017 Grand Caravan SXT.

I have a quick question for you.

This uConnect radio that I have does not have the navigation feature, though it has all of the additional components on the vehicle to make the navigation work.

Q: Is there a way I can update this radio via firmware that would allow me to utilize navigation?

Additionally, it shows that I am able to watch DVD's on the front console there, but I am unsure if this is true.

Q: How can I tell precisely which radio I have with my new vehicle?

There is hardware associated with nav, so no you just can’t “enable” it. Ch3ck your owners manual, it will list the optional head units that could be equipped.

 

Check your owner's manual for the pictures of the radios installed in different models. That should tell you. You can watch a movie on that screen but not when the van is moving. If the van has navigation it will have a NAV square in the top right corner of the screen.
