I have a 2014 dodge caravan 3.6 with about 80,000 miles on it. About 2 weeks ago the van started shaking at idle and then continued to get worse. The van now shakes while driving especially when cruising in overdrive. Read codes and it is showing p0301 cyl. 1 misfire. Should be easy enough BUT!!!!
I hate throwing parts at vehicles so I decided to do some leg work to rule out some issues.
Step one: swapped coils from cyl 1 and 3 and spark plugs from 1 and 5. Cleared codes and drove it around the block. Pending code came up as cyl. 1 misfire.
Step two: Swapped injectors from cyl 1 and 3. Cleared codes drove it around the block and pending code popped up as cyl 1 misfire.
With that being said I have ruled out bad injector/spark plug/ and ignition coil. Can somebody tell me what the next step should be? Has anyone had this issue and can shed some light on this situation? I don't have a lot of money to throw at this vehicle so testing before replacing is a must.
