Long story short it's a family van that went neglected. As I've gone over it I noticed an unplugged wire in the engine bay hanging loose. Does anyone know where it goes, what it does?

Thanks for your help in advance, I hope my pictures are clear

Then I wouldn’t worry about it. Probably for some factory option yours is not equipped with.

Looks like it could possibly be the plug that would normally go to the cruise control. But I do not see any other cruise control components in your pictures.

Pictures are a little too zoomed in to get a good general idea of where this wire is exactly. Back up and point to it.
Also, was the vehicle once equipped with cruise control ?

I think the plug goes to some piece on the egr system, and if so reconnecting it should help fuel economy a little. I don't know much about vehicles and only vaugrely remembered the red safety clip on there from my own encounter of nesecity.

Sorry for the crappy highlight, had to d it from the cell
